signal too short? can't learn code

Postby salsbst » Fri Jun 20, 2003 10:31 pm

I have an old TV. It doesn't even have a brand name label on it (although somebody might appreciate the fake-furntiure look that it has). You can all make fun of me now.

I was able to find a setup code in my universal remote (oneforall model URC-44CXXXB02) that works. Their website says that this code is for either Fisher, Sanyo or Sears (that's my guess).

The only button that needs to be learned is the Power button. The problem is that I can't get Girder to learn it. The progress bar only goes about 1/3 of the way when I press the button, and it seems that this code is somehow very short. When I hold down the button on the remote, the light indicating that the remote is transmitting only flashes, it does not stay lit. This is different than the buttons for other devices that I have.

I have used the debug feature to record the codes that are being received, but since the code is sent only briefly, I have to keep pressing the button repeatedly to get a result. Each time I've done this I've gotten a different result. I'll include all three:

So, the question is (I guess to Jon): can you use this to tell me what I should enter manually? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Stuart,

Yes, I can take a debug and produce a code for you, but unfortunately the 2.5.8 version of the plugin the IR debug is broken. Can you please download and use the 2.5.9 version of the plugin: http://home.earthlink.net/~jrhees/USBUI ... v2_5_9.zip and redo the IR debug? Thanks!

Jon,

Thanks for your response, but you were supposed to say, "I'm sorry, that TV is too old. Tell your girlfriend that you really need to buy a 34 inch 16x9 Monivision." ;)

I installed the new plugin and here are 3 more debug results (I still have to press the power button 3-5 times get through the debug window).

Stuart,

You're right -- that's a really odd protocol. Try importing the following Pronto code (make sure to CHECK 'import as raw'):

0000 005C 000B 0000 0080 0180 0080 0380 0080 0380 0080 0180 0080 0180 0080 0380 0080 0180 0080 0380 0080 0380 0080 0180 0080 0780
