USB UIRT wake up function in Windows 7?

Postby Hexus » Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:59 pm

Do anyone succeed to wake up Windows 7 from S3 with USB UIRT? Please help! I have tried with 3 different m/b with no luck. Everything works fine in XP but not in Win7. Thank you in advance.

Forgot to say that USB keyboard \ mouse wake Windows 7 from S3 just fine on all three m/boards thus. What can be the problem? I tried to check all available OS options, Hybrid Sleep, USB Selective Suspend, MST Utility etc with no use. Wake codes were correctly programmed thru IRNHelper utility but in S3 sleep mode USB UIRT Box just make LED flashes on remote key presses and nothing happens.

Jon, maybe it is USB UIRT driver still not 100% compatible with Windows 7?

Hm, I notice there is no Power Management tab on the USB-UIRT in Device Manager. I'm assuming that's the problem here.

Edited to add: There's no power management tab in XP either, so that's a red herring.

Well, I did a little digging. It looks like the USB-UIRT version 2.02.16 drivers are a repackaging of FTDI's version 2.04.16 (I don't know why the discrepancy in version numbers) chip drivers. The FTDI driver release notes mention a fix for a "power management issue", which may be the problem we're seeing, but if that's the case their fix didn't work. The last drop of these drivers was February 17, 2009.

It would be nice if Jon or someone could comment on this.

Have tried everything except USBIOSX registry hack (not intended for W7). Has anyone tried this? Anyone with a wake working in W7?

Found a solution. An old driver.

http://www.etcwiki.org/dl/USBUIRT_Vista_v20204.zip

Eventually this driver BSODs with more than 8GB of memory. Luckily I have only 4 ;-). Haven't tested it except for wake function which works now. Jon says new driver should be ready with Windows 7 official release. Not a very busy board here, eh!

Any updates here? I've move my Sage Server/Client system to Win7, and am really missing the ability to wak with remote (my system is in a closet in the other room, so my current solution is to just leave it on all the time. Not the best solutio, by any stretch...

Bump?

Just wanted to add that I cannot wake my windows 7 pc with the usb-uirt either.

I've tried setting the IR codes with LrnHelper and the plugin for Girder.
It seems to take but they won't wake the computer.

I take it there is no solution to this yet? I was messing around with lmhelper last night and noticed the option to set a remote command to wake the pc. While it reads the signal, nothing actually happens when it is asleep

Did anyone email Jon about this?

I ended up using those Vista drivers and it worked for me. Took the chance since I only have 3gb of RAM in my system.

Hopefully Jon and team come out with updated Windows 7 drivers though
