I'm having the exact same problem.
I've never tried the device on Windows XP.. but on Vista Media Center, I cant get any response from the device.

Device manager see it fine, drive loaded, no issues , but I can't make the setup in beyond TV work, and when I tried flashing to the lates firmware, I got the same XXXX and YYYY back and forth to infinity.....

Did you find a solution to this by chance???

No solution yet.
Jon has said he may be able to send a special debug build of the driver to try and figure out what is going on.

For what its worth, I got fed up and installed windows xp. UIRT works like a charm in xp. Not entirely a bad thing either since I also couldnt get drivers for the VFD or the IRTrans modules to work in Vista - they are both working now as well.

Should have known better to stay away from Vista.... I've tried switching about 6 times now on different systems and in the end, I always go back to XP :)
