Does USB-UIRT support all IR protocols?

Postby pxd » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:52 pm

I'm shopping around for a IR receiver solution and I'm learning that there are a variety of different protocols for IR communication (NEC, IRDA,...) It doesn't say anywhere on the site whether USB-UIRT supports any or all of these protocols? Does it support all of them?

Thanks!

For receive, the USB-UIRT does not attempt to decode specific protocols -- there's just too many! Instead, it attempts to create a unique code based on timing differences in the IR stream, thus making it more or less 'universal'.

For transmit, the USB-UIRT records and plays back the IR stream based on detailed timing and frequency data -- once again allowing it to recreate protocols universally.

Thanks for the info. So USB-UIRT can be trained with any receiver that uses an IR remote right? PS: I'm not trying to ask for a guarenteed, I would like to know the info before I make the purchase. My satellite receiver is a pansat btw. Thanks again.
