Compatible IR Emitters

Hey,

I've got 2 of the same STB's. Unfortunatly I can't do different remote codes (they don't support that).

So my only option is to use 2 stick on emitters to change these devices independantly.

I'm looking at:

8170S STICK-ON IR EMITTER (SMARTHOME BRAND)

or

Xantech 282M

I'd rather go with the smart home one because I'm cheap :D

But I'd really rather go with the one that is reliable/compatible.

Can anyone comment?

Thanks!
Brad

Both should work equally well.

Keep in mind you will need a stereo-to-dual-mono splitter or equivalent.

Thanks!

I decided to build my own, since I could only find the above items in California, and it would cost around $70 CAD once the items were paid for and shipping (2 of them).

Crazy!

Jon,

Would this work so we could drive higher currents and better range??

Yes, this external amplifier basically recreates the type of current drive already used for the built-in blasters.
