Beta Testers needed for GUI Remote Control

Postby THEGUIRC » Fri Jan 06, 2006 4:31 am

I have written an GUI application that simulates a cablebox remote control and sits on your desktop. It utilizes Jon's usb-uirt to send IR signals to my General Instruments cablebox which uses the TCI200B remote control.

Here is a picture of the remote my application simulates.

An added feature of my GUI Remote Control is my Key Repeat Timer, which allows you to program the GUI to repeat any of the keys, a number of times with a delay time in between.

Another feature I plan to add is my Script Key Timer which will allow a user to program the GUI Remote Control to execute any number of keys at any specific time of the day.

There are many other features, but I am looking for input on how to improve on what I have already created.

I have screenshots that I can email to anyone who is interested.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

T.HE. GUI Remote Control with Voice-Activation

Postby THEGUIRC » Sat Jan 07, 2006 4:37 am

Just to add a note.
I just discovered how to add voice-recognition to my GUI Remote Control.

I can write a custom remote to fit anyones needs, but I would still like to find a beta tester who is interested in giving me some input.

JR,
If you send me the details on the remote you want to emulate, I will let you know what I can do.

Thank you for the response. I want to emulate the remote for the Sirius S50. It can be seen from this picture.

I have used another program and learned all the codes for the remote and used it to control the device, but I just want an app for this one remote.

May I ask what language you are using for you remote app?

The usb-uirt graphical user interface remote control I mentioned at the top of this post is now available as a freeware download on my website.

Hi Ted,

Does the usb-uirt graphical UI remote control allow the keys to be "relearned"? I am trying to find a software remote that I can use with my USB-UIRT and my SKY PVR (New Zealand SKY - essentially a PACE box).

Girder is way overkill and your remote looks just the ticket. I would be happy to beta test any relearning ability for you.

Cheers Mike

mruane,
I am currently working on a universal remote control design that would allow the user to create from 1 to over 100 keys. The remote body and each key will be able to be configured to be any size rectangle using any color and font. Each key will be able to be programmed with any pronto code chosen by the user.
I will offer this universal remote control on my website as shareware.

You will be the first in line as a beta tester, should I need one for this product. The time-frame for its release is uncertain.
Thank you for your interest Mike.
