Any way to wake up PC from standby or hibernation thru IR?

Is there any way to wake up a PC from standby or hibernation with a USB UIRT and Girder? I saw the following but was not sure if it applied: http://www.fukushima.us/UIRT2/

This is for a laptop which will be a car PC, it has no wake on ring or wake on lan though, at least not in the bios.

The USB-UIRT can wake a PC from standby in S1 or S3 states (S3 requires Bios support -- must enable Wake from S3 with USB in the Bios).
