Radio Shack Phoneline Audio/Video Distributiion System

Does anyone here know if the emitters supplied with the referenced device can be made to work with the USB-UIRT? They use a stereo plug and there are two LED's in the emitter portion. It does not work when plugged in, and, I have not been able to pry them open yet.
