Centralized Control of Decoders via a LAN

Hello,

Given the fact that an IR Blaster/UIRT connected to a computers serial/USB port can emit IR codes for the required Decoder function control, I would like to know if anyone can provide an IR Blaster device with a simple application which can be accessed on any LAN terminal/PC through a Central server and thus control the Decoder with the IR Baster connected to that LAN terminal/PC. The IR codes of the Remote Control shall be provided.

One example where this function is required is to control/manage STB output (Channel Number) connected to large Plasma screen displays in different locations inside a huge campus, remotely through LAN terminals/PCs which will be placed near/behind the Plasma Display. An Operator at the Central server shall access the LAN terminals/PCs for each individual dispay/Decoder and change the Decoder output instead of having someone to go to the Display site and change channels manually on the IRD whenever required.

Please advise on a solution.

I think your best bet would be a number of small/inexpensive networked linux PCs with USB-UIRT attached. There is a linux driver here being developed, look up here in the forum. Then add a simple web application to control uirts and there you have it
