Box does not accept 11, 22, 33 etc.

Postby GoldenEye » Thu May 19, 2011 3:49 pm

I am using Mediaportal and have changed my digital TV box to a Pace DCR6230.

USBUIRT used to work perfectly with my old box. After learning my new remote's IR codes which worked perfectly, I realised that the box does not accept numbers which contain the same digit twice after each other (11, 22, ..., 110, 111, 122 etc.

I have tried several different settings (changed ms between digits, repeat counts etc.) without success. The same issues appears with the Hauppage IR blaster, btw.

Do you have any suggestions about what I could do?

Thx a lot, G.

Does the software (MediaPortal) allow you access to the IR codes (many apps store the IR codes in a text file somewhere on the system). If so, this can be fixed with the help of the LrnHelper app:

1. Locate the file where IR codes are stored. IR codes will look like this:

0000 0048 .... .... .... (note, numbers will vary, but always start with 0000 and are in groups of 4 digits).

2. Download, unzip and run the LrnHelper app (www.usbuirt.com/lrnhelper_0_0_5.zip)

3. Learn both the toggled and non-toggled codes for a button on your remote:
3a: With LrnHelper running, click the LEARN button.
3b: Position your remote an inch from the USBUIRT and PRESS AND HOLD the desired button until learning is complete.
3c. Copy/Paste the learned code from the LrnHelper app into a notepad or text file
3d. Repeat the LEARN process AGAIN for the same button. Note: takle care *not* to press any buttons on the remote between the two learn processes.
3e. Copy/Paste the learned IR code into the notepad/text file.

4. Now, with both codes learned, create a 'combo' code by concatenating the two codes together as follows:

code1#code2

So, the newly concatenated code will look something like:
0000 0067 0000 0002 0011 0022 0011 0387#0000 0067 0000 0002 0011 0022 0011 0387

5. Paste the 'combo' code back into LrnHelper. Now, click the TRANSMIT button and verify the set-top-box responds to the code. Then, click TRANSMIT *again* and verify that the set-top-box responds again. If the set-top-box responds each time you click transmit, then you have successfully created a combo code.

6. Paste the combo code into the IR code text file for the application you are using.
