UIRT Reliability

Postby MrGibbage » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:20 am

I have had the UIRT installed for a week or two now, and I am a little surprised at the less than perfect reliability of the system. I am trying to get it to work with eventghost and the Windows Media Center. Oh, it receives the IR signal OK, but sometimes I have to press the button on the remote several times to get it to do what I want. I think I may have narrowed down the problem (or maybe not). I ran the UIRT Learn Helper program and pressed the "1" key on my remote (a Harmony 620). I added a device for Microsoft media center. Anyway, I pressed it several times, and I got the following codes:
4325A0F590E7
412FA1C007F1
456A283C34B4
432501F040F1
450DA03C14F1
4325A1F040F1
4325E0F050F1
and more and more.
I never saw the same code twice. Shouldn't I be seeing the same code each time? Now, I did notice that while I pressed the key, even if I pressed it fast, it looks as if some codes are scrolling through, but too fast to read.

Furthermore, I don't know if this is a symptom or not, or if it is related to this problem, but I also see codes just appearing on their own in the the eventghost log even when no buttons are being pressed on any remotes. But I don't see codes appearing in the learn helper utility on their own.

What do you think? Is this common? Is it kinda unreliable for most people, or should it work better than this? Literally, sometimes I have to press the key five or more times to get it to do something.
