Elite Screen IR Control

I have an Elite motorized projection screen in my home theater. I'm having trouble getting the USBUIRT to learn the IR commands for screen-up and screen-down. I've managed to teach these to my Harmony, and USBUIRT does learn them, but when I try to send the IR commands that USBUIRT learnt it doesn't actually work. As if the IR command isn't sent for a long enough period or something. I tried getting homeseer to send the command twice but that didn't work.

The Harmony works fine.

I found on the MainLobby forum someone else was having this exact problem and their solution involved abandoning IR control of the Elite altogether.

Suggestions?
