lirc and usbuirt

new to usburt, just to check, does the latest lirc suppport usbuirt ?
i'm using lirc 0.8.3 and linux 2.6.25.10-47.fc8 with the usbuirt.
I could get the irrecord working with
irrecord --driver=uirt2 --device=/dev/ttyUSB0 lircd.conf
but when i use irsend (after starting up lircd of coz) i get the following
irsend: command failed: SEND_ONCE lircd.conf voldown
irsend: hardware does not support sending
I tried the uirt_rw and usb_uirt_raw and they had problem recording.
Is there something I'm missing ?
Basically i just want to be able to transmit the same signals my infrared remote control is sending so I can set the volume on my TV =(
