Problems learning STB remote

Postby hkm » Mon Aug 11, 2008 7:57 am

Hi All, I'm having trouble getting my USBUIRT to correctly learn my STB numeric codes. I'm using SageTV 6.4.5 on a WHS machine. The learning process works okay most of the time, but when it comes to testing the learned codes, only some digits work, and not 100% of the time. I also had trouble getting repeated digits, but i changed the RepeatCount property to 1 and that has stopped happening.

After endless trying, i'm left with about 4 digits that either don't work at all, or work sometimes. One of the learned code repeats, even though I've changed the repeatcount to 1. I guess the learned code itself is the digit twice??? Not sure if it's relevant, but I found out from some googling that the STB uses a remote from UEI - see below:

"UEI specifically customized the Stealth universal remote control together with PCCW. Region-specific infrared codes and design features like "direct set" and "step 'n set" have been added for easier device set up as well as the utilization of UEI's Xtensible Multimedia Protocol (XMP) IR protocol. XMP enables streamlined and precise communication between UEI's control device and PCCW's set-top box"

I tried using the sep. learner application, but got the same behaviour. Also, when you press test on that program, it think it sends the code repeatedly, so I can't tell if it's sending doubles. I've listed two learned IR codes below in case it's of use (the "1" works, the "5" doesn't).

FYI, I have another USBUIRT and WHS machine with a different STB that is working fine, so definitely seems to be an issue related to this particular STB's IR signals.

Sorry for the long post, but it's causing me a lot of headaches :x

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
