USB UIRT works in Windows but not in Linux MCE

I am having great issue in getting the USB-UIRT to work in Linux MCE.
It blinks when I send a code but nothing happens on any of my Sony A/V equipment. I then tried the lrmhelper and everything works great in Windows.
What am I doing wrong? Only thing I might not have tried is to put the pronto code in manually instead of learning the code (even though the learned code seems right)
