Why we have to reinstall driver everytime we reconnect?

For some reason UIRT-USB would cease to function so I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working again but Windows XP keep prompting for driver each time.
Since this is a HTPC so it get real annoying digging a keyboard and mouse out of closet to connect to it so that I could reinstall driver and click "Countine" because dirver are not signed for XP.
I am not blaming UIRT-USB to cease working because I can't determine if it UIRT-USB or SageTV is the problem to this issue but this driver reinstallation is hell annoying. I never have that problem with any other usb devices I owe and I have install unsigned drivers in XP with them as well too.
Is there a way to solve this?
