Help with Girder/USB-URIT/MCE/Harmony 688 remote

Ok, heres the deal. I've got Media Center Edition 05 installed on an HTPC, Girder 3.3, USB-URIT(along with the girder plugin) and a Harmony 688 remote and I need some major help.
I have farted around with Girder for the last 2 hours and I just cant figure it out. Can I or can I not control my HTPC using this setup? All i need is basic controlability (volume, play, pause, skip, and control in the Media Center console). I just can't figure how to get the UIRT to recognize the harmony using Girder.
If anybody has a like to some FAQ page that discusses all of this equpiment/software, that would be great.
Any help would be greatly appreciatied. Thanks.

EventGhost is much easier to setup than the outdated Girder 3.3

Thank you very much for the tip. I had heard of EventGhost before, but I thought since the USB-UIRT was designed for girder, I had better use it. But it is very complicated. I will give this a try. If anyone else has any info for me, please let me know.
