USB UIRT and Homeseer and Air conditioner

Hello,

I have just installed a USB UIRT and got it working in Homeseer with my tv and vcr but I have a couple of problems and wondered if anyone knows what I can try as I am out of ideas ???

Firstly, to set my VCR recording you have to hold the record button in for several seconds before it will start recording
I have tried setting the repeat override to full but this doesn't help

Secondly, I can't get it to learn commands for my air conditioner remote (the main reason i wanted it)
The air conditioner seems to just send a quick birst of infra red rather than a contionous string, I suspect this is the problem?
When I try and learn from it, the indicator bars show it has received something but it doesn't register it and just sits waiting for a signal

A homevision user tried to learn the Daikin AirCon codes without any luck I suggested he speak to Schelte Bron , who was able to modify the ir code and somehow and get them to work in Homevision..Maybe have a quick chat with Schelte.....Below is a link to his site

Smart A/C remotes are a difficult beast because they do not send out 'key codes' like other remotes do. So, when you press the 'fan' button on your remote, for example, it does not send a 'fan button' code to the A/C. INSTEAD, the remote stores all of the settings, for fan, temperature set-point, etc. When needed, the remote dynamically creates a *long* IR stream which it transmits to the A/C. In this IR stream is *all* of the current settings for the A/C. So, for example, the remote might send a code stream which says: "A/C ON, Fan=Medium, Temperature=65, etc. etc."

Great news; I have managed to get it working with my air conditioner

In the end I had to program a learning remote to control the air con then teach the usb-uirt from this by repeatedly pressing the button until it got the code

Hmmm. interesting. I suppose that using the 'Accept Burst' during Learn (either in Girder or with the LrnHelper app) might get aroung this, then.

Is there any update on this.

I understand what you are saying in relation to "dynamic" string being created but I still have had no joy getting the aircon to work.

I have used irnhelper and it is a little hit and miss with coming up with a code with the usb-uirt.

Even when it does come up with the code when I do a test my aircon does nothing.

I have tried this multiple times with no success.

I have a panasonic aircon as well as a mitsubishi but have had zero luck getting either to work.

This sounds like something a lot of people are running into and one of the main products that people would like to control.

Whats the chance of one of you very bright programmers coming up with a way to tackle this?

Other than that I love the usb-uirt. It is a great product.

Have you any more information on the Daikin Airconditioning saga? I have your USB=UIRT and I can read the Daiken code however my Philip Pronto won't look at it.

I have tried learning these in the Pronto with no success I can capture them using your irnhelper utility which is how the codes above were derived.

I have tracked down a Daikin 96 command set which is available for the Daikins but to date I can not get to the bottom of exactly what this is. From what I can gather it is a discrete shorten version of code that still sends all the instruction again as in the large hex code blocks above but in an abrieviated form. For example Code21A=*,25 Deg Fan Low Swing,21,12,18,0A,27,2C,28,7F,01 I am not sure exactly what to do with this and how to get this into the pronto I suspect that 21,12,18,0A,27,2C,28,7F,01 is what needs to be sent by the pronto.

Here is the full subset that I have been able to get, this is not from Daikin as they have proven totally unsupportive and very closed shop.

The BRC4C153 is the remote controls model number and is the remote I used to generate the hex code dumps that I posted earlier, the command set below is from the same remote but I got these from a site I found not from Daikin.

I appreciate your expert opinion as to how the two relate and how it might be possible to use these in a Pronto or other remote control environment. I am now looking at using a RTI solution for where these Daikin unit are going to be used......any thoughts,
