A couple of USBUIRT problems

Postby gunja99 » Tue Sep 14, 2004 9:26 pm

Hi all, having recieved my UK 56k Version of the USBUIRT I was really looking forward to getting it up and running! I rebuilt me PVR machine (2400XP Athlon, 512MB RAM, 240GB HDD, NForce 2 Chipset).

The USBUIRT Drivers went on fine, got girder, loaded it read the guides (man that thing aint easy for an experienced PC user!) And off we went played round for a while, got it to turn on and off me AMP whilst using me Hauppauge remote control... GREAT! (this was saterday).

Decided to get TVedia on (for me XCard, etc, etc today). Installed that, and got it to learn my codes for the hauppuage remote (came with the PVR350). This seemed okies, but noticed 2 different numbers for every button (alternate). It also reported the same 2 numbers in girder when I tested that. It means I have to press each button twice for it to recognise it. I hunted round the forums (here and there), and saw about different computers (exactly the same problem). I also tried a powered USB hub, exactly the same. The learn mode I have the remote up close, but it seems that it's the USBUIRT always reporting different codes.

This happens with about 4 remotes I have. One of them does report lots of different signals (probably 5 - 7), in differents orders (no pattern recognisable), and the xbox one, well thats a problem very high Mhz! I got new batteries for the remotes still the same thing happens!

I have Plugin: 2.69. API Driver: 2.6.93, and Firmware 5.9 (as came with the USBUIRT).

Second problem... The main reason I got my USBUIRT, was to control my Grundig 2000 Freeview box. Girder learns these codes (2 on alternate presses), but is not capable of sending them (run the test mode doesn't work). The transmit DOES work for the TV, and the AMP, and the video, but NOT my freeview box (main device I wanna control PVR, XMLTV, etc, etc). Any ideas on this. It is reporting on the learn at a frequency of 33.2Mhz I think. Are there any other settings I need to try!

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks....

When you learn a Grundig code in the USB-UIRT Learn dialog, what appears in the 'Code1' and 'Code2' boxes? Also, what appears in the 'Carrier Frequency' box?

Thanks,

Hi Jon, the Code 1 is: R029A10809910451080991045108099104510451045108099108099108099104510

R02CC10809A104510809A1045104510451045104510809A10809A10809A104510 (2nd try code 1)

R029A10809A104510809A104510809A10451045104510809A10809A10809A104510 (3rd try code 1)

R029A10809B104610809B104610809B10461046104610809B10809B10809B104610 (4th try code 1)

All using button 0. There is never a code 2

Code 2: <Blank>

Frquency during learning is: 33.2/33.1. After detected switches to DC (RF Modulation).

PS. The Hauppauge has a parity thing which changes the code every press, so I need to setup girder to do things on 2 different codes!)

BTW the code given at the bottom of the girder screen for the button 0 on teh grundig alternates between:
1900024100C1
1900024150C1

On per press, always alternates between the two!

Thanks for your help!

gunja99,

Can you try learning a button, and then before doing a 'Test Transmit', change the carrier frequency setting to 35KHz? This may be the problem...

Let me know!

Jon,

Im at work at the moment. It seems to pick it all up, just not send :'(. As soon as I get home I will try it, as this is the last part of my setup to get working! (Well apart from the XMLTV UK RT feed having died...)

And the most important use of the USBUIRT (I have a couple of receievers already!). Well should all get it working. thanks for the advice, will let you know in 2 and a half hours!

PS. U can call me Martin hehe

YES! Love you Jon, thanks a lot, this is GREAT news! Now all I gotta do is work out how to get girder working correctly, and how the event.exe files work!

But this now works, setting to 35Mhz! I'm sure I tried this yesterday... Off to the girder page now! Thanks again!

This is a strange bug in the Girder plugin -- I need to track it down -- for some reason the setting sometimes gets set to DC when it shouldn't...

Ahhh well, it all works, spent hours programming all the damned channels in, and got an alternative XMLTV (well till the rt one gets sorted). So all going well. Now just need to work out how to control TVedia (Joveplayer), from girder, and we're set!
