send and receive at the same time.

Hi, having recently purchased a usbuirt i have the following question.

is the unit capable of sending and receiving at the same time??

reason being that i have a light conrol remote that i am trying to mimic.

it uses a long press to dim the lights. and a short press to turn the lights on and off.

i use girder to send a short signal to the light controller and that works for on and off. but for a dim action i need to be able to hold a button on a remote down and have girder send a long signal all the time the button is pressed.

having asked on the girder site, i was directed to here to find out if the unit can send and receive at the same time.

thanks

Daniel.

The short answer is 'NO'. There are a number of architectural reasons for this, and the explanation can get complicated.

The main reason for this is that IR (infrared) is simply light, and more than one source of IR at the same time causes collisions (for example, if you grab two of your remotes and press buttons on both remotes at once, the IR for both will 'collide' and your equipment will not see the signals).
