Volume control on Philips receiver?

Postby drogers » Fri Mar 07, 2003 2:57 am

I've got my USB UIRT working great for all of my TiVo functions, but can only get some of the fuctions for my Philips receiver working. I've captured the commands for Volume Up and Volume Down (both standard and RAW), but the uirt is unable to actually change the volume. Any ideas?

Here's what got captured for Volume Up -

R0702261E261E261E481E261E261E261E2640481E261E261E26

I should also mention that I didn't capture any of the TiVo codes - After all the trouble I had with the receiver, I gave up and imported them from a website listing IR codes for Pronto owners. Unfortunately I can't find a similar list for my receiver.

Thanks!

drogers,

First things to try are to try different frequencies (try 36, 38, and 40KHz) and also (first) set the repeat count up high to something like 10 or 15. You can always back the repeat count down later.

What model philips receiver are you using?

-Jon

P.S. You can also send me an 'IR debug' of your volume button. That might help.

drogers,

Did you try a large repeat value?

Yes, I've tried everything from 1-20, every frequency range available, and capturing raw or not. Any ideas?

drogers,

Do any of the other functions on your Receiver work (other than volume?)

I'll try to duplicate your remote with my All-for-One. If you happen to know the code for that remote, let me know.

Yup, other things I program (mostly power/mode switching so far) have worked, volume doesn't. I have no idea what the remote code would be for a one-for-all, I don't even own a universal remote (other than my PC ;-))

Thanks again,
D

So am I SOL here? I'd hate to have to go back to an ir distribution setup just for one function...

drogers,

No, but you'll likely have to wait for the next USB-UIR firmware upgrade. This version (probably a couple weeks away) will take advantage of the wideband IR 'learning' receiver built into the USB-UIRT and will hopefully get a more exact copy of what your remote is sending out -- frequency and all.

I was unable to find an all-for-one code for your receiver. Are you aware if there are any matches for your receiver in the Pronto library at www.remotecentral.com ?

Yeah, this one -
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/fi ... -fr975.zip
should be it. Unfortunately I don't have a pronto and can't test it....

I can wait - I'll be in the middle of moving for the next 2 weeks anyway.

Hmmm... I wonder if there is a program available to read in the pronto .CCF file you pointed me to and display the hex of the remote codes?
