USB Uirt and XM Radio

Postby delgross » Fri Apr 02, 2004 11:53 pm

I am having trouble getting the Girder USB Uirt to learn the commands from a Delphi SKIFi remote. I think others are having this problem but I despite searching hi and low I can not seem to get a comment on what is unique about this remote. The following is what is output when I use the IR debug feature in the plugin trying to learn the number 1 from the remote.

Yikes that's an old version of the Girder plugin! The format has changed -- can you download the plugin from www.usbuirt.com/latestGirderPlugin.zip and redo your IR debug?

Thanks,

Jon

Well, I'll do that, but I have only been using it since January. Look for me in a couple of minutes.

Well of course you were right. Although I did not play extensively it still does not work. Here is the code....

I don't see anything unusual about this code...

Does it successfully learn (but doesn't work when transmitted)? If so, can you post the learned code?

When learning, try learning in Raw mode (check the 'Force Raw... box).

Also when transmitting, try using a higher repeat value.

t successfully learns, but when I try to test the command no go. Increasing the repeat number causes the SKYFi unit to drop to to its default station, but only occasionally.
Here is the code learned in raw format

R06C4402120402020404020204021202120212021204020

As I have searched around I have found out that this remote uses parity???? Is that possible and what are the implications
of that. I do have a ccf file that supposed has all the ir commands in it. I can't use it but I did decompile it to try to get at some of the commands
which do not seem to work either. Would that be of any help to you??

Hmmm,

The other thing you 'might' try is a LOWERING the repeat count and experimenting with counts of 1, 2, and 3.

Having the .CCF would be *very* helpful. Can you email it to me at support@usbuirt.com ?

Thanks,

I have tried all sorts of repeat counts. It makes no difference.
I have been looking into the parity thing I mentioned. Apparently the
device needs to receieve a second code which from what I have read does nothing but sets the unit up to receive another command. Does that make any sense. I will send the CCF off. It has some other devices in it, but the XM part is pretty obious.

Thanks,

OK, I'll look at the CCF. If you want to factor out parity (for the code(s) you learned), try this:

1. Use you remote to send some code to the XM receiver.
2. Then, try sending a button from the USB-UIRT (use a repeat of 4).
3. Use your remote again
4. Use the USB-UIRT again.
5. Use your remote exactly twice.
6. Try the USB-UIRT again

By interchanging, your remote in this sequence, you're trying all parity options.

Here's one more thing to try:

Import the following code for the '1d'? button.

In Girder, go to the USB-UIRT driver settings page, click 'Learn', then click 'Import', CHECK the button which says 'import as raw', and then PASTE the following code:

0000 0074 0021 0000 0040 003f 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 003f 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 003f 0020 0c5f 0040 003f 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 003f 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 003f 0020 0c60 0040 003f 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 003f 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 003f 0020 003f

and click OK. Set the Repeat to '1' and test this code as well.

Doing line on and two -works
Line 3 no effect
Line 4 No Effect
Line 5 Works
Line 6 No effect

I also tryed the raw code you sent. The system responds by going to the default channel 1.

I'm sure this means something to you.....

Well, good, I suppose. It looks like the imported code worked. So, can you:

1. Learn the '1d'? button from your remote.
2. Post the learned code here.
3. Test transmit that code with a repeat of 3.

I'll compare the learned code with the imported code and hopefully something will turn up.

Just to be sure I am correct. The orginal code I sent you I think was for the number one key. Is that what you mean by 1d (?decimel)

I'm not sure, I got the pronto code from the .ccf and the button is labelled "1d". To be sure, could you learn in raw mode your '1' button EXACTLY TWICE without pressing the button between learns. Post both Raw learned codes.

Another thing which is interesting about the Pronto code is that it is set up to send the code exactly 3 times. So, that's why it would useful to try sending your learned code with a Repeat of 3.
