Trouble learning codes for BarcoGraphics 808S

Postby rozenblat » Tue Mar 16, 2004 8:02 pm

I am trying to get the usb-uirt to learn and transmit the codes for a BarcoGraphics 808s projector through Girder. Has anyone been successful in doing this??

So far, I am able to sometimes get a flashing light in the learn mode, but it has trouble determining what frequency its at. I also tried to download the pronto codes, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post a link to the Pronto codes for this projector?

Also, when I ran the IR Debug from within girder, I captured the following for the power on button:

Hmmm,

Looking at that IR Debug tells me that you need to first update to the latest USB-UIRT firmware. Download www.usbuirt.com/latestFirmware.zip and run the firmware updater on your unit. This issue has to do with very short timing on some remotes and was fixed is a firmware update a while back.

Let me know how it goes.

When I try to update my firmware, I get the following message:

Unable to connect to USB-UIRT

Additionally, I checked in Girder, and it says I have Plug-in version 2.5.9 and Firmware Version 5.4. Are these the latest versions??

Dave,

No, the latest versions are firmware 5.8 and plugin 2.6.7 (www.usbuirt.com/latestGirderPlugin.zip). Also the latest API driver is 2.5.9 (www.usbuirt.com/laestAPIDriver.zip).

Anyway, I neglected to mention that you need to close *all* apps which use the USB-UIRT (you must completely close Girder even from the tray) before running the flash update utility.

(Just curious -- what button did you press on the second IR capture?)

OK, sorry to lead you on a goose chase -- the reason you're having issues is because this projector apparently uses DC (no carrier) signalling.

Looking at the Pronto code it appears the signalling is very fast as well. There is some DC support in the USB-UIRT, but its not integrated into Girder (DC Pronto code import or learning) at this time.

If you can give me some time on this one I can look into it...

A warning: Those Barco's are notoriuosly difficult to control. I have an 808, and the remote and control system is the same. I only managed to control it with a Pronto, but didn't want to shell out for that, especially since I don't like them! So I found another solution: You can use Girder and the serial plug-in. I have uploaded my control files (they should do all aspects of the projector) to the user uploaded files section of Girder. All you need is a pc with a serial port. It may be your best bet. This way I can control it with any IR remote using the UIR I have as a receiver on the computer that's connected to the Barco (not the HTPC, I use the Internet server for that), so I also control it with the USB-UIRT - it simply sends a learned IR code that triggers the event in Girder, and the serial signal gets sendt to the Barco.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Do you know where I would get the codes to control the Barco from??

If you mean the IR codes, you'll find them on IR Central (http://www.ircentral.com), the serial codes you'll find on the Girder board.
