Sending only one "weak" signal

I was found it easy to change channels, turn off/on my Toshiba 34hf83 tv with girder/usb-uirt until... I tried to change the inputs on the tv for automation... The usb-uirt seems to not like the input button. During normal (not learning) operations uirt registers this button just as easily as others but when I tried to learn the input button in girder (to transmit via uirt plugin) multiple attempts had to be made because only a short code would show up. When a longer 2 part code did register, the signal sent by usb-uirt seemed very weak, unlike all of the other buttons/signals learned from the same remote. Only once had I upped the carrier to 38.5khz and place the uirt right in front of the tv did it start to respond like all the other buttons.

Is there a way to strengthen this signal is some way? Like I said I have has not had this problem with anyother signal/button on this remote and TV... Any ideas?
