External IR Blaster

Postby MannyTC » Sun Mar 07, 2004 7:05 pm

I have 2 ir blasters that came with my Scientific Atlanta STBes. I tried plugging them into the USB-UIRT but I don't get any response. Are these just wired differently and can I possibly just modify the wiring to get them to work with the USB-UIRT?

Chances are you can rewire them, but unfortunately I couldn't help you much more than this since I don't know what the 'guts' of the Sci Atlanta emitters are and how they are currently wired.

Well, I took apart the IR blaster and found out that the Anode was wired to the tip and the Cathode to the ring. I put a new 1/8" connector on the end and it wired it as you suggested here (http://65.36.202.170/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=96) and it worked perfectly.

Now all I need to get is your anticipated updated software to take advantage of the separate zones so I can control two like cable boxes with one USB-UIRT.

Thanks for a great product!
