Cannot learn Vidikron codes

Postby Malcolm » Sun Jan 25, 2004 11:31 pm

Hi,

Firslty sorry for the long post. I am having trouble getting the USB UIRT (version 5.5) to learn codes for my Vidikron VPF40HD projector using Girder with the 2.5.9 plugin. It is sucessfully controlling other equipment so it is not a general problem.

Here is what I have tried to date.

1. Learining the codes straight from the remote: The progress bar never gets to 100% and I have dificulty getting the reciever to show activity.

2. Learning with force RAW mode on. The result of this is as with 1 above, it seams to make no difference to the result.

3. I found Pronto codes on the Net and then tried to import these using the import funtion. The published Pronto codes are at

http://ir.premisesystems.com/search.asp ... &l=VPF40HD

An example is the brightness code which follows...

0000 0008 0007 0006 00C0 03A6 00C0 017A 017A 00C0 00C0 00C0 00C0 00C0 00C0 00C0 00C0 4C54 00C0 03A6 00C0 00C0 00C0 017A 017A 017A 00C0 00C0 017A 4C54

The traslation seems to work however when I test the code I get no response from the projector.

4. I tried importing the code using force RAW mode but testing the result also failed to get the projector to respond.

5. Latstly the IR debug produced the following result.

0381 0067 000 FFFF

I have no idea what to do with this data.

Any ideas, thoughts or sugestions would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks,

Malcolm,

From the look of that Pronto code (the second number '8' indicates the frequency), it appears that the Vidikron uses a very high >500KHz carrier frequency. This is not currently a capability of the USB-UIRT.

I'll have to look into it and see if at the very least I can get the USB-UIRT to 'transmit' that high...

Hi Jon,

Any progress with this? It would be a great benefit to me if I could use the USB UIRT to send these commands. If this is not going to be possible then I will have to build my own IR transmitter.

Thanks,
Malcolm.

Malcolm,

The USB-UIRT design will allow a 500KHz carrier with some special code. I'm not sure how close that will be to the 'right' frequency for the Vidikron (there's a lot of granularity in frequencies that high and I am deriving the frequency from the pronto code). It really boils down to getting some test code for you to try.

Are you aware of any learning/one-for-all remotes that can capture/send these codes?

Hi Jon,

I don't know of a learning or all-for-one style remote that will work with the Vidikron. The only thing I can think of would be to send you the original remote. Would it take long for you to produce the code if you have a remote to work from?

Regards,
Malcolm.

Malcolm,

If you can give me a few days I can give you some test code to try. Things have been hectic the past several days because I'm catching up on backorders.

Thanks Jon,

That will be great. I look forward to trying out the code.

Hi Jon,

Have you made any progress on getting some test code for me to try? I am guessing that this code will an IR code that I import to act as a remote button. Do you want me o send you the debug code from the remote for the functions I am most iteested in?

Thanks,
Malcolm.
