Lutron Spacers

Postby Crescent » Sat Jan 17, 2004 8:55 pm

When learning the codes for the Spacer system, the meter only registers about a 1/4 for progress. However when I test it it works. My problem is when I go out to Girder and try to assign the same code to trigger the event. It won't learn it for anything. I want to keep them the same because I'm using the USB-UIRT as a blaster or repeater in the case of this device.

Crescent,

I assume when you say that the meter only gets to about 1/4, you have to hit the 'Accept Burst' button, correct?

Can you tell me what Carrier frequency shows up forthe code as well as can you learn the code in Raw and send me what appears in the Code1 and Code2 boxes? This will help me understand why the USb-UIRT doesn't see the code when not learning.

Also, during normal use, when you hit the Spacer buttons does the USb-UIRT's LED light up at all?

Thanks,

Jon

Thanks!

I had to accept burst for the AllOn command. The others learned normally. I still could not assign the same code to the event in Girder. It would not learn them outside of the plugin interface.

In normal use, I'm not yet using the USB-UIRT for the lighting, yet. However some of the codes trigger a quick flash on the unit while a couple register a muti-burst. Here are the codes cut and pasted from the plugin interface:

All On
R0800832C81115B81115B5B816A5B5B5B821E81F4832C81115B81115B5B816A5B5B5B821E81F4832C81115B81115B5B816A5B5B5B821E81F4832C81115B81115B5B816A5B5B5B821E

Scene2
R011D832D81115B81115B5B816A5B5B80B65B80B65B

Off
R00F2832D81115B81115B5B816A5B5B81115B80B65B

Dim Up
R00F3832C81115B81115B81C65B81115B81115B

Dim Down
R011E832C81115B81115B81C55B816B5B5B5B

I'm having some other issues with Scene1, 3 and 4. Those aren't working at all. I may have to re-download another set of Lutron codes and import them into the MX-700.

Oh, can you tell me what the 'Carrier' frequency reads on these commands?

Thanks,

Space system codes...

Postby BrianDS » Mon Jan 26, 2004 3:09 am

I am anxious in the answer to this as well. I do not have the remote for the spacer system. I thought I'd be able to use the codes from the web to get them working. Thus far I've only gotten raise and lower to work. Using high repeat counts, I can simulate off with a nice fade. The raise unfortunately controls all three zones so this work around is not effective. Not to mention that I paid extra for the system units so I could get the 4 scenes.
If any one has captured codes for the four Scenes as well as On and Off, I'd really appreciate if you could share.

Thanks,

Brian

Crescent:

Sorry but I haven't gotten to this yet.

BrianDS:

Since you aren't trying to control your PC/Girder with the Spacer remote, you should be able to import Spacer codes and still transmit OK.

Any status on this?

The primary reason I purchased the UIRT is for it's emitting abilities to use with my Spacer system lighting. The MX-700 handles all of my other devices and I would only require an IR receiver of any kind otherwise.

I know I can teach Girder any code to trigger the Spacer code from the plugin, but I would prefer to use the Spacer codes for both.

Crescent,

OK, Initial looking at this has revealed why (at least) they do not generate events in Girder -- it is because they are so 'short' of IR codes that they are rejected by the USB-UIRT's noise filter because they are thought to be too short to qualify as IR codes.

I can try making some changes in the filter to allow these codes to pass, but it may cause other spurious codes to start appearing.

These codes are rather unusual (probably because Lutron doesn't do consumer IR) and are about 1/5 to 1/10th the size of normal IR codes.

At best I can try to make some 'special' firmware for you to try, but I would not want to put the changes into regular release firmware, since it would likely create more problems than it helps.

Such is the dilemma of a 'universal' IR receiver -- making it support a broad enough gamut of protocols without being so broad that any old IR noise (which is always around) doesn't give grief.
