heh, that doesnt work either. Lemme know if I/this is starting to annoy
you and I will lay off of it for a bit. I do have a working solution but was
just curious about the initial Err 80 and why it was not working with the
'all' off code from remotecentral.com.

In *no way* annoying. We'll get to the bottom of it.

There appears to be a firmware bug I have yet to fully verify which is affecting the full pronto code when imported RAW. This is due to the length of the RAW code (causing the 'Err 80...'. So, I had tried trimming the code to see if it helped, but it is very possibly the the 'shortened' code I created is not even valid for the equipment.

Cool, let me know what you need me to do/test and I will be more than
happy to do so.

So I finally got around to plugging in the USB-UIRT to my primary system
this past weekend, and I have been experiencing some problems, specifically
with the same set of codes mentioned previouslly with this thread (Dish
network discrete power codes)

The problem is that while the transmit works fine via the test button, and
'test command' via girder (3.2.8) it seems to only work like maybe one out
10 times or so via actual use.

I thought at first it was an issue with the emitter and reflecting (even though
it worked via test 100%) so I picked up a Xantech 284M today, but it still
exhibits the same behaviour.

As a side note, it does however work 100% of the time in actual use via
Denon discretes. I have also tried increasing the repeat and the wait for
X ms without any changes.

Any thoughts, suggestions, hints etc?

Thanks,

Paul,

Your 'actual use' -- it by any chance that you have Girder set up to transmit IR triggered by a received IR event or an IR-keyboard event?

Jon,

Yup, its setup to transmit IR, which is triggered by a received IR event. I played around
with the order, ie sat after Denon receiver, that and raising the repeat and the wait
X ms or IR activity without an consistency in terms of turning the sat off and on.

Again, just to let you know it does work via test under the plugin, and via 'test command'
via girder. Is this a girder issue?

This sounds like an IR collision issue. To verify, try this.

1. Take the other equipment out of your multigroup (leaving only the problem device--Sat receiver?).

2. If that doesn't fix the issue, continue by setting the 'Wait x ms or IR inactivity' to a very large value (1000). You should now see about a 1 second delay between the time you press the event-generating button to the time the sat code gets sent.

Let me know your results...

No difference removing Denon equipment out of the group (leaving Sat on,
and monitor on, and an execute for the H3D software)

The delay maxed out at 500, which I already tried. However, I decided to
insert a wait via girder for 1000ms to see it made any difference and for
the moment it seems to be consistent. I will play with it some more and
see what I can come up with from this end, if you have any other ideas
let me know and I will try them out

Spoke a little too soon, it's still hit or miss, maybe works 50% of the time
now instead of 10% as before. Will continue to play with inserting delays
and will report back.

Paul,

I should probably explain what 'IR collision' is in case you haven't figured it out by now...

In your case, what is likely happening is this:

1. You press a button on your Remote.
2. Girder sees the event, and initiates an action.
3. The USB-UIRT transmits a new IR stream.

The problem arises that your remote may still be sending our IR energy (from step 1) even when Step 3 commences. The 'Wait for IR inactivity' option is supposed to help this.
Another potential problem created is 'receiver desensitization'. This happens then the equipment to be controlled in step 3 sees the IR energy from step 1 and adjusts its receiver gain (Automatic Gain Control) to the energy from 1. If too short of time elapses from when the IR energy from 1 above stops to when the IR energy from step 3 starts, the receiver may not receive the signal properly.

To help prove this, inseting delays in Girder should eliminate the problem. HOWEVER, be aware that these delays are only effective in proving the problem if you take care to *not* hold the remote button in step 1 very long -- try to press it just long enough for the event to be generated.

To help determine if desensitization may be occurring, try shielding your SAT receiver from seeing the remote you're using to generate the Girder event.

If the issue appears to be desensitization rather than IR collision, adjusting the carrier frequency or proximity of the USB-UIRT to the Sat receiver may help.

Jon,

I kinda figured that is what the IR collision was, thus I was hopeing that by
adding delays that it would help.

As for the the desensitization issue, since I am using the Xantech emitter I
covered the receiver up and it made no difference. The issue is quite odd,
I mean it works everytime via test and plugin settings, and test command
via girder. I have a couple other ideas that I am going to try out, I will let
you know what I find.

Paul,

I need to check something, too:

You said that control of your Denon equip works all the time, but your Dish receiver is sporadic. Can you paste to a posting a Dish code (both Code1 and Code2) that is not working all the time and also a Denon code this is working all the time?

Also some details of your system would be nice.

The last thing I'd like you to try is putting in several seconds of delay (using the Girder wait function) between the IR event and the IR transmission.

Paul,

did you try doing the several second delay multigroup, something like:

Event->
Wait 5000
TX IR Dish

(i.e., having NOTHING else triggered by the IR event except the Dish IR transmission after a rather long wait)

What effect did this have?
