So it seems that I need a little help.

I am testing this out on a laptop before jacking with the primary machine, but for the life of me I cant seem to make this thing work properly. I downloaded the 1.0/1.3.0 USB/FTDI driver, the 2.5 plugin, Girder 3.2.7b and 3.2.8, WinXP Pro SP1

Whenever I go into the settings for the plugin (after enabling the device, closing out Girder completely, and then restarting) and cut and paste some Pronto codes that addresses my test receiver (address 1 for Dish 301, confirmed in system info menu, also tried other address modes) into the import, with and without converting to rawcode - it doesnt work, but I can hit apply ok etc. However, if I put in the Pronto code that supposedly hits all the addresses for the receiver, and I tell it to convert to raw, it does work via the test button, but when I hit apply or ok Girder craters out (both 3.2.7b and 3.2.8). For grins I did cut and paste the converted code straight into the gml file and tried opening up Girder that way but it still crashes (issue with Girder?).

That is issue one, issue two now.

How can I just do some basic testing with the unit? I have tried to just learn misc commands straight from the remote, but it doesnt seem to work properly. The LED light blinks and what not, and the status bar goes up and down, and sometimes even completes, but when I try to test the command I just learned it doesnt seem to do anything. The LED yet blinks again, but the receiver is not responding (10 ft away or so). I did go through the various carrier values to see if it made any difference but it did not, as well as forcing learning of rawmode.

One other thing, occasionally the LED will go solid, and I will get a message that pops up and says that it did not receive an ACK from the UIRT, I hit ok, light is still solid, and about all I can do is unplug the unit and plug it back in.

Anyhow Sleep calls now,
Paul

Pdermody,

If possible, I would like you to do the following:

1. Could you please cut and paste me both: a) one of the imported Pronto codes which addresses your test receiver (please give me bot pre- and post-converted) and b) the pre- and post-converted code that works with the TEST button but crashes Girder.

2. For one of the buttons you're trying to *learn* (that won't work) do the following: Click the 'IR Debug' button and then press and Hold a button on the remote. When a screen full of hex stuff comes up, cut and paste it to me as well.

3. Are you trying anything in particular when the LED comes on and sticks on? (i.e., TEST, etc)

The converted import for 1b (all addreses) works when hitting test, nothing else seems to. The UIRT hangs up when hitting test on the Unconverted Import from 1b as well.

2) For testing I was just trying to learn a volume up that I have on my Cinema7 to an IRMan that controls the master windows volume (works with the Cinema7)

Paul,

A little more specific on item #2. The RAW DEBUG you sent me was for a button on your Cinema7 remote --

When trying to LEARN this button, does the LEARN process complete (ie. does the progress bar go all the way up?)

If so, what are the resulting codes?

If not, are you pressing and HOLDING the button (just like you did with the IR Debug?

Thanks,

Jon

I tried just hitting it a couple times similar to what I did with the IRMan, however I did generate that debug by holding it down, and I did trying to learn by holding the button down as well. Another reason I tried hitting the button repeatedly is that it did not seem to work with the mute button as it would go partially up and then just stop. Anyhow, here are the generated codes to go along with the previous debug

Code 1: 030241B354081E0D0028808A280A00A0AA0000000000000000
Code 2: 074201B32800000E00000000000000000000000000

Forced raw they are:

Code 1: R0302816680A81C0E1A3C1A3C1A101A101A101A101A3C1A3C1A3C1A101A3C1A101A3C1A3C1A101A3C1A3C1A101A101A101A101A101A101A101A101A3C1A3C1A3C1A3C1A3C1A3C1A

Hmmmm... the Code1 and Code2 above should work okay. Please try the following with these codes (I'm assuming this is your vol up).

1) Set the 'Repeat' value up to something like 10 or 15.
2) Try using the 'Test' button with 36, 38, and 40KHz.

-Jon

P.S. Oh, one more question: What are you trying to control with the volume-up transmission?

No difference, I was trying to control another PC's volume via another IRman I had laying around. With the Cinema7 it works, with the USB UIRT it doesnt, but since I dont remember what IR device I programmed the Cinema7 to emulate I am now going to just eliminate it and the IRMan from testing.

I am now testing with the DP301, with factory remote. I am able to to learn channel up and down so far without any issues, albeit I am using the carrier frequency of 40khz? I thought Dish equipment was 56k or so? I was also able to learn volume up and down for a Viewsonic VB50HRTV which operates at 38.5khz carrier.

So now I am back to the discrete power on/off for the DP301, using Pronto codes found at remotecentral.com. Where the addressable codes do not work, but the 'all' address code does work via test button, but soon as I hit apply or ok it craters out. Also with this 'all' code discrete is where I find the issue with the conversion, ie if I dont convert it to raw it hangs the USB UIRT when I hit the test button, locks up LED solid, have to unplug the unit.

Side note now, should we be able to go into hibernate with this device? When I try Windows complains about the device and does not let me.

New Plugin Available

Postby jrhees » Mon Feb 24, 2003 6:13 am

Pdermody,

Sorry you've been having a rough start.

I have made available version 2.5.1 of the plugin (from the support page). This version should address the following issues:

1. Fixed a bug with long (>128 byte) Raw codes. sShould fix girder crash you were seeing.
2. Fixed a bug with 'Test' button. Was causing your USB-UIRT to hang (LED staying on) with the unconverted code.
3. Fixed a bug with importing multi-code RAW pronto codes.
4. Fixed a bug with importing pronto codes with a single burst pair.

Your adress-specific codes will likely work now. Please give it a try.

Please let me know...

No worries on the rought start, its a new toy.

Well with the new plugin, I can now use the channel specific discrete on and
off where I could not before, and I can now save/apply the all channel code.

However, when using the all channel pronto codes, I can only use the off
when I tell it convert it into rawcode, is this correct behaviour? With the on
it does not work at all in unconverted or converted. I do see an error in girder
though when I hit apply and try testing it via girder instead of the plugin
interface, the error is the following:

Err 80 Recv'd from USB-UIRT

with no LED activity

Pdermody,

try importing the following Pronto code for 'off' (Import Pronto and CHECK the Import RAW):

0000 0048 0001 0011 0017 0165 0017 00a5 0017 00a5 0017 00a5 0017

Let me know if this works.

Sorry, my bad...I guess the code I posted (reading you posting again) is actually an 'On' code. Anyway, you'll only want to bother converting to RAW. Make sure the repeat count is set up to, say, 10 to start with. Also, you can try this version:

0000 0048 0034 0000 0017 0165 0017 00a5 0017 00a5 0017 00a5 0017

heh, that doesnt work either. Lemme know if I/this is starting to annoy
you and I will lay off of it for a bit. I do have a working solution but was
just curious about the initial Err 80 and why it was not working with the
'all' off code from remotecentral.com.
