Wiring diagram for external emitters?

Postby Guest » Fri Mar 03, 2006 10:04 pm

I am looking to wire up a dual external emitter cable but cannot find a wiring diagram. I am guessing at the following:

Top of plug (wire)

| Anode Emitter #1
| Anode Emitter #2
| Ground

Bottom of plug

Can anyone confirm if this is correct or point me to a wiring diagram?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Yes, this would be correct.

To be sure I'm correctly interpeting the first post... Is it...

Tip Anode Emitter #1
Ring Anode Emitter #2
Sleeve Common Cathode

Or

Sleeve Anode Emitter #1
Ring Anode Emitter #2
Tip Common Cathode

The first would have been my guess but the second is what I think is described...

Thanks

Sleeve is the Common (cathode) connection.

Power limits?

Postby MarkS » Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:12 am

So is the output already current limited? In other words, do I need to add a series resistor in line with the LED, or just hook it up directly to the output at the jack? If so, what size resistor? Or better yet, what voltage is present at the jack? 5V, I would assume....

Also, is there any specific type (frequency, power, etc.) of IR LED to use for best results?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, the output is already current limited. There is an 82 ohm resistor in series with the output.
