Does USB UIRT cope with Telewest/NTL non standard irda?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a USB UIRT to allow GBPVR to change the channels on my Telewest box on the other side of the room. However I've read that some Telewest/NTL boxes use non standard irda-like signals, and I was wondering if this might cause me a problem.
