Cable Length

Is there a maximum USB cable length for USB-UIRT, since I will be locating my PC in a different room to where the TV is. I already have wires for the picture and audio wired, and was hoping I can run another one for the remote and IR blaster. I was considering going with an RF remote, but then I dont get an IR blaster to change the channel of my sky digibox...
I think the length will be around 10m, maybe a little more.
Also, is USB-UIRT compatible with windows media center 2005 if I choose to use that in future? Im guessing I can get support of a remote control using Girder (not sure, just going off posts Ive read, Im new to this), but will the IR blaster part be compatible.

Never mind, just read about active usb cables/hubs...
This thing gets more expensive by the minute.
