Updating driver to 1.3

From what I can tell I originally installed v1.2 when I received my USBUIRT last year. So I tried to "Update Driver" from Device Manager and point it to the folder with 1.3.zip extracted files, but XP says cannot find a better driver. If I remove the USBUIRT from Device Manager it reinstalls itself without prompting for the driver. Do I need to uninstall the "FTDI FTD2xx USB Drivers" listing in Add/Remove programs?
