UIRT Won't 100% learn Receiver or PJ Commands?

Postby webwalker » Sat Aug 14, 2004 12:51 pm

I can't get the UIRT plugin in Girder to fully learn the commands to power on/off my receiver (Harman Kardon AVR5500) or my Projector (SharpZ10000). The progress bar goes about 50-75% but then stops for some of the remote commands (the power on/off), however others such as volume are fine? I should note that both my HK and Sharp remotes have separate buttons for 'on' and 'off', so it's not a toggle issue.

I bought my USB UIRT within the last 5 months, so the firmware is upto date (according the UIRT website).
I am holding the remote close (2 inches) to the UIRT with the same results...as I said, it's only with certain remote buttons.

Can anyone help?

Sean,

Does the LED on the USB-UIRT stop blinking at that point (when you get to 50-75%), or does it continue to blink?

If it stops blinking, it might be that your remote only sends out a 'burst' for the power controls. If this is the case, the newer Girder plugin has an 'Accept Burst' button which you can press on the learn dialog.

Hey Jon

Thanks for the reply.
The UIRT stops blinking when the progress stops, and I have tried (in vain) to use the 'Accept Burst' button...
Some guys from AVSForum told me that I should get a program called 'Tonto' and then try to find the CCF files for both my PJ and my receiver, then import these commands into the UIRT girder plugin.
Unfortunately, I can't find any CCF formats...the closest I found was NCF file, which I can't open.

BTW - do you have any plans to provide linux support for your UIRT?
I'm having my PC rebuilt right now in Gentoo with a MythTV front end...I got sick of 'ghosts' appearing in my XP system after a few weeks for no reason. Despite keeping the system a completely standalone (not internet access, updates or any changes) it still manages to 'invent' problems after a while.....my partner is going nuts with this, so I've had to hop the fence. From all understanding Gentoo is an awesome OS, very stable etc.
Would love to still be able to use your UIRT with my new system if possible!
:)

Here's some codes you can try (not exact matches) -- be sure to have 'Import as Raw' checked when importing these...

As far as Linux support, there is development underway for Lirc support in Linux. Check the development forum for details.
